About the Exhibition:

In the spring of 2008, MOCA hosted “Infantization” curated by Mr. Zhang Qing, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Museum of Art. This exhibition sought to showcase the creative style of young contemporary Chinese artists through a variety of themes. Following the opening and reform policy of the last 30 years, China now faces approaching modernization and urbanization across the country, which is to say that China has finally seen the birth of the “jello” era. Although jello was originally a western desert, since the introduction of the first jello production line in China in 1985, it has been an integral part of the lives of Chinese children as they grow up. At the same time, these children have also begun to personally experience and debate such modern issues as freedom and loneliness, opening and self, simplicity and complexity familiar to modern countries.

Established in 2001, both MOCA Taipei and the Taishin Foundation for Arts and Culture (TFAC) have shared the common goal of actively promoting the creative development of contemporary art in Taiwan. However, whereas MOCA presents theme based exhibitions focused on modern cultural issues in art and the creative approach of different artists, TFAC established the “Taishin Arts Award” to draw attention to and support new breakthroughs in the field of contemporary art. A special exhibition for nominated works at the 6th “Taishin Arts Award” in 2008 marked the first time the two organizations have worked together, bringing together the very best creative 15 works in the visual and performing arts for the year. Nominated pieces highlight cross-disciplinary inspiration, collective creativity and originality, and as such are a testament to the vital development of a “new generation” of Taiwanese artists in the marketplace, whilst offering indications as to the most recent trends and developments in the field of contemporary Taiwanese art.

About the Exhibition:

Applications of various system interfaces in this digital era are to compile the machine electrical current into interconnecting communication channels. Inputs and outputs between the human-machine interface in addition to enabling remote connectivity, forms the extended information network. The digital art, in a sense is even more tightly woven between “communication” and “interactivity”, where interactions between the human and machine becomes one concept of the “interface” communication channel. The 3rd Digital Art Festival Taipei 2008 features the theme “─TRANS─”, inviting worldwide artists to present their interpretation of the concept through their digital art pieces. The events also include international invitation exhibition, digital art performance, creativity forum, and other exciting schedules to present a new vision of art across different fields and transcending space.
