When “no can do” is repeated again and again, it becomes a pet phrase. When a group of people keep doing the same thing, it forms a meme. When something is repeatedly told and circulated, it transforms into a legend. So much is said, but nothing is believable!
In this exhibition, seemingly normal, everyday narratives are mixed with absurd, irrelevant events, which might make sense in some way but still appear bizarre. As the audience wonder about this odd feeling, so do the artists. Perhaps, we have all grown accustomed to it.
The artists draw inspiration from common experiences in everyday life, and employ approaches of fabrication—3D modeling, puppeteering—to re-assemble our imagination of these events, even to the point of rebelling against and satirizing the symbolic supreme—the divinity that watches you from the other side.
Everything is borrowed, and nothing can be taken to the afterlife. You don’t get to leave if you don’t finish watching this!
